MindVision Software announces Installer VISE 6.5, an update to the highly popular Macintosh installer solution. This version takes advantage of the latest Macintosh technologies and is available for download.

Support for OS 9 Application Packages
Application packages keep an application and all its required support files together. Because they appear in a single folder, application packages also simplify the user's experience. Installer VISE makes it easy to create and install application packages on OS 9.

Support for OS 9 Multiple User Accounts
Multiple User Accounts can prevent users from installing software where they shouldn't. Installer VISE now supports this security feature with every installer that you build. On a system that uses Multiple Users Accounts, the Finder will return an error if the user tries to install files without the proper privileges.

Uses OS 9 Install Locations
Installer VISE can install software into OS 9 locations, so your software can take advantage of the latest technologies. Folders introduced in OS 9 now appear in the "Install To:" popup menu.

Gestalts for OS 9, G4 Processor
Now you can check a system for OS 9 and/or a G4 processor before you install software. Installer VISE lets you assign these and other Gestalt checks to any install item in your archive.

Run custom code during uninstall
Installer VISE 6.5 can call your custom code when it installs or uninstalls an item. The previous version could only call custom code when it installed an item.

Support for Apple's Disk Copy for building installers to disk images
Installer VISE now calls on Apple's Disk Copy to build standard disk images. These images can be 800K and larger.

Load Contextual Menus without restart
Installer VISE can help your customers start using your software as soon as it's installed. Installers built with version 6.5 can automatically load Contextual Menus after installing them, and not require a restart.

Synchronize file dates at build time
Now you can synchronize file dates at build time, according to the target used. You can specify which files to synchronize and the dates the installer will use.

Easily install text encoding converters
You can install text encoding converters without having to write external code. Just add them to the archive as you would any other item. At install time, Installer VISE will automatically keep your converter files in compliance with required converter documents.
