New Features and Fixes in 1.9.5
Version 1.9.5 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
This version provides built-in support for:
-
Setting the text size for disk image icons (see the Disk Image Properties,
General tab)
-
Hiding files and folders on disk images (see the item's properties)
-
FileStorm Preferences now allow setting defaults for image file path, icon path
and background image path, so you re-use these settings without having to edit
them for each new project.
-
The minimum OS check for FileStorm installers now extends through Mac OS X
v10.5.
-
FileStorm now requires Mac OS X v10.4.3 or greater for encrypting a disk image
(with AES-128 encryption) so that it requires a password to mount.
-
For compatibility reasons, the MacBinary and BinHex encoding options are
disabled when running FileStorm on Intel machines. If you use an Intel machine
to open a project that uses these encoding options, FileStorm will set the
encoding back to None, and display a message that advises running FileStorm
under Rosetta if you need to continue encoding as MacBinary and/or BinHex. (The
Encode Format setting is available in the Disk Image Properties, Format
tab.)
-
Changes were made to address the following issues:
-
Non-admin users were unable to launch FileStorm.
-
GZip formatted disk images were not decompressing as expected on Mac OS X
v10.4.
-
Adding a license agreement file to the disk image via AppleScript was failing.
-
Registered versions of FileStorm produced an error when the user tried to
manually check for software updates (using "Check Now").
-
When installers included multiple install items, FileStorm failed to retain the
Install To paths for all the items.
-
Uninstallers were unable to remove files that were installed after their parent
folders.
-
Localizing certain strings would break the functionality of FileStorm
installers. Because these problem strings are not needed for localization, they
are no longer included in the Localizable.strings file.
New Features and Fixes in 1.9.1
Version 1.9.1 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
Fixed intermittent product activation errors.
-
Fixed a bug where some systems were building disk images with the "Show Item
Info" property turned on.
New Features and Fixes in 1.9
Version 1.9 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
FileStorm, FileStorm Pro, and installers built with FileStorm Pro are now
Universal Binaries.
-
The FileStorm and FileStorm Pro applications now require Mac OS X v10.4 or
greater. However, disk images and installers built with FileStorm are still
fully compatible back to Mac OS X v10.2.
-
Fixed the following issues related to built or finalized disk images:
-
Background image not displaying under certain default view settings
-
Icon positioning not being retained under certain view settings
-
Icon label placement was not being set correctly
-
FileStorm installers now use WebKit to display HTML tags
New Features and Fixes in 1.8.2
Version 1.8.2 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
Fix for console being flooded with invalid CGContextRef messages.
-
Fix for Read-Only disk images opening in Column View when the Finder
Preferences are set to open new windows in Column View.
-
Fix for a scriptSuite error regarding an invalid nxtBtnDefault type (was
displaying an error in the console when building/finalizing).
-
Fix for the build sheet cutting off the bottom of text when it wrapped to two
lines.
New Features and Fixes in 1.8.1
Version 1.8.1 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
Fixed a bug where the Finder wasn't writing the .DS_Store file before
un-mounting the volume when performing a Build and Finalize in one step,
causing icon placement to be ignored (Tiger issue).
-
Fixed a bug where authenticated installers would fork a sub-process but not
allow it to close, causing a zombie process to be created for every file that
was installed.
-
Fixed an issue with builds triggered from applescript getting stuck at the
"Starting..." stage.
-
Fixed minor compatibility issues with Tiger.
-
Compiled with XCode 2.0 on Tiger.
Known Issue:
In 10.4, Apple changed the spacing between a file's icon and its text label.
You will need to make sure that the icon/label placement looks good on the
background of your built disk image in both 10.4 and previous versions of OS X.
The different operating systems will display the same disk image in two
different ways.
New Features and Fixes in 1.8
Version 1.8 of FileStorm and FileStorm Pro is a maintenance release that
includes the following:
-
The threading model has been re-engineered to greatly improve stability and
enhance performance.
-
Reliability has been improved when building from AppleScript.
-
A workaround was designed for an Apple API bug where the volume name was not
being properly converted to an HFS path, resulting in disk images being built
without a background whenever multiple builds were performed with different
volume names without quitting Filestorm.
New Features and Fixes in 1.7
FileStorm and FileStorm Pro version 1.7
The version 1.7 FileStorm and FileStorm Pro applications now require Mac OS X
10.2 or greater. However, disk images and installers built with FileStorm 1.7
are still fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.1.
FileStorm 1.7 changes
-
FileStorm 1.7 requires Mac OS X 10.2 in order to build disk images.
-
To maintain disk image compatibility between Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3, FileStorm
will always hide the toolbar prior to build.
-
Added transparent scrollbar to indicate window size differences between disk
images mounted on Mac OS X 10.2 and Mac OS X 10.3. Disk images mounted on Mac
OS X 10.2 will have a window size indicated by the area inside the transparent
scroll bar area. Disk images mounted on Mac OS X 10.3 will have a window size
indicated by the entire window including the transparent scroll bar area. For
Mac OS X 10.3 compatibility of your disk images, make your background image
large enough so that it displays behind the transparent scrollbar area.
-
Improvements were made to the handling of text files used for disk image
license agreements.
-
In the Disk Image Properties, Format tab, the checkbox named "Automatically
copy contents and delete image after mounting" has been renamed "Internet
enabled(copy contents and delete image after mounting)" to align with Apple
nomenclature for disk image functionality.
FileStorm 1.7 fixes
-
Fixed a bug where disc burning was crashing under Mac OS X 10.3
-
Fixed an error that would occur when finalizing a disk image that was already
mounted. FileStorm will now wait for the disk image to unmount before
initiating the finalization process.
-
Fixed problems where the visible sidebar and toolbar would cause incorrect disk
image window size.
FileStorm Pro 1.7 changes
-
All changes and fixes listed above for FileStorm 1.7
-
Added the ability to localize a FileStorm Pro installer. See
Localizing FileStorm Pro Installers
in the FileStorm Help for instructions.
-
Added a Select All button to the FileStorm Pro Uninstaller.
New Features and Fixes in 1.6
FileStorm version 1.6 adds improved support for Unicode file names and several
performance enhancements for faster build times. FileStorm provides an
extensive set of capabilities not available in other disk image utilities, and
it is the only tool that can create a disk image or CD on Mac OS X 10.2 that is
completely backwards-compatible on Mac OS X 10.1.
-
Building disk images now executes compiled AppleScripts resulting in
significantly faster build times*
-
Now provide full support for Unicode file names when building disk images
-
Fixed bug introduced in version 1.5.1 with permissions and
creation/modification dates for installed files. Instead of preserving these
settings, installed files would sometimes be incorrectly set to default user
permissions and dates for a new file
-
Fixed bug executing script actions in authenticated installers when running
from a path containing a trademark symbol
-
Will now create Log folder if it does not exist when writing out installer log
file
-
Now report better error message if trying to install a broken symbolic link
